There are so many out there – which one do I choose?
There is a plethora of low carb/keto cookbooks on the market today. Most of the bloggers we all follow have one. Like most of you, many of my own low carb & keto recipes were inspired by those found in other people’s cookbooks and on the web. When I come across a new recipe, I usually make it exactly as written. And after that I use it to get ideas for new recipes, such as different parings of various ingredients or cooking techniques. Do you do the same thing? Here are a few of the cookbooks with recipes that got my eyes popping and my taste buds rocking! I hope you find them as inspiring as I did.
All of them are just a few dollars each in the Kindle version. Even better… several are FREE with an Amazon Kindle Unlimited membership. Don’t have Kindle Unlimited yet? Click here to check it out.

Eat Happy: Gluten Free, Grain Free, Low Carb Recipes For A Joyful Life
Written by Anna Vocino, co-host and producer of The Angriest Trainer podcast with Vinnie Tortorich. I’m not the only one who appreciates this book. It has almost 1000 reviews on Amazon and almost all of them are 5 stars! Anna’s writing style is seriously entertaining and the recipes in this book are equally enjoyable. This is a recipe book – not a diet book – which she’s written from her perspective as a vibrant woman who happens to have Celiac disease. The recipes use whole foods and even the desserts have absolutely no artificial sweeteners. You won’t find calorie counting and the other diet book additions here, but you will find a whole lot of happy eating!

The Everyday Ketogenic Kitchen
Written by the famous blogger, Carolyn Ketchum, of I Breath I’m Hungry. Every low carber knows this site and the awesome recipes Carolyn has been sharing with us for many years. She has a few books, but I like this one best because it contains every single thing you need to know about keto and low carb cooking. A full 30+ pages give nearly encyclopedic details about different ingredients, helpful kitchen tools, and tips on how to use them (both the food and tools) to get the best results. Each recipe includes indicator icons for a variety of dietary restrictions (paleo, dairy-free, etc.) and other things (kid friendly, easy to make, etc.). There’s even a cross reference index at the back to quickly find recipes that are tagged with those icons. It’s a super cool book and worth every penny. You may find, like I did, that after downloading the Kindle vesion you’re willing to pay for the more pricey paperback version.
It’s that good.

Peace, Love, and Low Carb – The Cookbook – 3 Ingredients to a Healthier You!
Written by Kyndra Holley, founder of the well known blog Peace, Love and Low Carb. Kyndra’s recipes are always inspiring and delicious. This is one of a several books she’s published and I love it. Don’t let the title fool you. These recipes call for more than 3 ingredients. Her reference is to the three things that make her blog: Peace, Love, and Low Carb. Like the recipes on her blog, this book is packed full of recipes that use real food ingredients that can be found in almost any grocery store!

Keto Diet: Top 100 Delicious Ketogenic Diet Smoothie Recipes
Written by James Abraham. This isn’t a cook book per se, since smoothies aren’t cooked. But don’t we all love a good smoothie? When the weather warms, cold smoothies become a regular weekend treat for many of us. The book has very few pictures, but the recipes are easy to follow and all the ones I’ve tried are great. It’s also really a simple book, nothing fancy here, and one that will give you lots and lots of ideas for smoothies so that your taste buds don’t get bored. My current favorite is the Blueberry & Almond smoothie on page 34. I’m literally drinking one right now as I write this post.

Ketogenic Diet Cookbook: 500 Ketogenic Diet Recipes to Cook at Home
Written by Emily Willis, there are LOTS of great recipes in this book and she did a fantastic job making the instructions easy to follow. Some of these are common recipes you might already know, but there are a lot of unique ones in here too. She has a Chorizo Califlower recipe that is surprisingly fabulous (pg. 8) and too many others to mention. There’s an Orange Chicken recipe (pg. 119) that I haven’t yet tried but it looks awesome and I’ll be trying it soon.

The Wicked Good Ketogenic Diet Cookbook: Easy, Whole Food Keto Recipes for Any Budget
Written by Amanda Hughes over at WickedStuffed. This is one of the better books for beginners and it’s just as awesome for those of us long time LC practitioners. Not all of the recipes have photos. That’s a little bit sad, because some of the recipes would benefit from one. Overall, the lack of pics doesn’t take away from the value this one brings. It’s a great addition to your collection.
